Wendy grew up in the Midwest and earned a BS from Purdue University and her MS from Louisiana State University. She worked in corporate America across several Western states before settling in North Carolina with her late husband and starting a family. It was her maternal grandmother, who lived to be 101, who was instrumental in shaping her belief that age is just a number and that every senior has a beautiful story and significant value.
The insight and experience that Wendy brings to being a care manager is from being right where you are, a family caregiver. Wendy has held many professional jobs and titles, including Mom and Stepmom, but it’s the title of ‘caregiver’ that she’s most proud of.
Wendy first encountered the difficulty of navigating our healthcare system while caring for her Grandmother after hip surgery. With two young boys in the home, she provided the support her grandmother needed to recover. She walked through the heartbreak of caring for and losing her first spouse to cancer. Supporting her mom through the loss of her spouse and subsequent Parkinson’s diagnosis, Wendy cared for her mom through the last phase of her life. It was through caring for her loved ones that she found her new career path.
As a care manager, Wendy possesses the empathy and understanding required to meet the challenges seniors and their families face. She helps guide her clients on how to promote independence with a commitment to safety. She is dedicated to the unique aging process and providing dignity and respect to the individual. Wendy knows how to respectfully advocate for both the aging and the caregivers. She brings a positive attitude that can bring calm to even the most difficult situations. Her can-do attitude always seeks a win-win situation. Her latest role as a professional caregiver has prepared her to provide the care management you are looking for.
When Wendy takes time for herself, Pilates and cooking are enjoyable outlets for her. She gets the most joy out of her time with her husband and English Cream Golden Retriever on the sandbar at Topsail Island.
